The high priest and Chairman of the general conference of the Apostles Revelation Society (ARS) Rev. Nyeenyami Etsey Wovenu has advised Ghanaians to live together in peace and unity before, during and after the upcoming general elections in December.
According to the man of God, a nation can only thrive and develop if there is fellow feeling and tolerance among its citizens. Rev. Nyeenyami gave the advice in an exclusive interview with Volta Forum at the ARS headquarters in Tadzewu near Dzodze in the Ketu North municipality of the Volta region over the weekend. He said many nations that took the peace they enjoyed for granted had to pay heavy prices when that peace eluded them.
He therefore called on all Ghanaians especially politicians to conduct their campaigns devoid of insults and acrimony so as to avoid unnecessary tension which he observed had the tendency of throwing the country into chaos adding that elections were not a do or die affair and for that matter political leaders should avoid using foul means to win elections.
He further called on the electoral commission EC to endeavor to organize a free and transparent polls calling on all candidates vying for office and all political parties to respect the results that would be announced by the EC so as to continue to reflect the good image the country has always portrayed in its previous polls.
He also called on the security agencies to be vigilant in the discharge of their duties so as to forestall any acts of lawlessness ahead of and during the polls.
